DESAYUNO
Desayuno is the Spanish word for breakfast. In Chile, desayuno is eaten in the morning, usually a bit later than Americans and Europeans would eat breakfast.
Café con leche is a very popular desayuno among Chileans. It is a small dish, consisting of strong coffee with hot milk. In Spanish, it literally means "coffee with milk." Café con leche is usually served with toast or pastries, with jam and butter. Chilean desayuno is usually much smaller than a traditional American or European breakfast.

ALMUERZO
Almuerzo is the Spanish word for lunch. Chileans usually eat almuerzo around 1:00 PM. Almuerzo is traditionally the largest meal of the day.
Empanadas are a popular dish for Almuerzo in Chile, although they can be served with other meals as well and have many variations. Baked empanadas (left) are considered very Chilean. They are commonly filled with onions, beef / steak, raisins, and eggs, seasoned with olive oil and chili pepper. Red wine (middle) is also very popular with empanadas and Almuerzo in general.

EL TÉ
El té literally means "the tea" in Spanish, and is the Chilean equivalent of tea time. El té is usually enjoyed around 5:00 PM.
LA COMIDA
La comida directly translates to "the meal," and is a Chilean's dinner. La comida is usually eaten around 9:00 PM, and smaller than almuerzo.
